I had the great opportunity to attend a brief talk by Usman Haque. This was my first introduction to his work, and knowing nothing about it before hearing him speak I was really blown away by his thought process when approaching a project and also the scale of how they turn out. and he admits that although these are vague topics at face value, when he explains their meaning and why he considers them important you can really see how he challenges his work incorporates these ideas through his own interpretation of them. He went through a bunch of projects and here are a couple that were most impressive based on their visual appearance and scale.
Though, not to be overlooked, his Pachube project is really cool because it’s developing the idea that the public should be creating data not just asking that data be public. If data is so powerful, as we know it to be, then how can we trust that what the government (or anyone for that matter) is producing is accurate?
