Just another sarcastically sunny summer day in Seattle and I decided to spend the day of lo-visibility climbing up Mount Dickerman. I had been reading the reports and there was apparently still a lot of snow up on the trail. I don’t really have much gear and really have no business heading out onto a snowy trail but the view from the top of the 5273ft summit is supposed to be that good. So I gave it a shot.
Unfortunately there really is that much snow up there still (the really hard-packed no traction blend), and there was a pretty sketchy frozen waterfall that I decided it best not to cross given that I was alone and the foggy conditions were putting a damper on the prospective view anyways. So I surprised myself and did the intelligent thing and turned it around at about 4200ft. I want to get back here to go to the top, maybe in August when the snow has melted – but as a consolation I allowed myself to spend a little more time than I usually would on the lower portions of the trail in the really impressive old growth. Here are some shots.
