This is a fun little app I made for my Introduction to Computational Media and Physical Computing classes at ITP during the Fall of 2010. The app loads a current student from the ITP database at random and displays their picture. Then by tapping the accelerometer data from my Droid, one “dances” with the ITP student until their heart grows so inflated that it begins to pound uncontrollably from the impressive dance moves on display. (Tip: you’re supposed to get their heart really big and then “dip” them semi-upside down to sweep them off of their feet)

After their heart is throbbing, no more time needs to be spent wooing the student and by touching the screen from this state a new student will appear only to inevitably to have their heart broken as well.

It was developed with Processing and Android, which still aren’t the best of friends but it works well enough most of the time. You wouldn’t expect it, but there are slight inconsistencies in how the accelerometer values behave which gives the effect of some students being easier to woo then others.

Worked with design, editorial, dev and program management teams to scope, design and develop prototypes for soon-to-be-released Bing.com feature during a summer internship. The internship culminated in two presentations of the feature prototypes to senior leadership at Microsoft as well as the Bing design team.
